Newton-Mosharafa Institutional Links call – now open!

DEADLINE – 13 June 2017, 16.00 UK time

The British Council and STDF has opened a new call for applications under the Newton Institutional Links <https://www.britishcouncil.org/education/science/institutional-links>  programme. This programme is designed to establish links beyond the level of the individual researcher and innovation practitioner, opening up opportunities for more sustainable, solution-oriented collaborations between academic groups as well as with the private sector (e.g. SMEs and technology transfer offices).

Institutional Links provides grants for the development of research and innovation collaborations between the UK and partner countries. The grants are intended to ...

 

*           Size of grant: up to £300,000

*           Priority areas: affordable and inclusive health care, renewable energy, sustainable food production, and sustainable water management.

*           Official Development Assistance (ODA) requirement: All applications must meet the required relevance to economic development or social welfare (see guidelines for further information) of the partner country.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (UK side)

*           Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK, as well as a Principal Applicant from the partner countries listed above.

*           All Principal Applicants must be Leadingchers or Established Researchers as defined by the EC here <https://cdn5.euraxess.org/sites/default/files/policy_library/towards_a_european_framework_for_research_careers_final.pdf>

HOW TO APPLY

1.         Please read fully the guidelines document attached.

2.         The UK PI should complete the online application form here <https://britishcouncil-cxobw.formstack.com/forms/application_form_il_2017_april> . A Word Docx version of the application form is attached. This is intended to give applicants knowledge of the questions in the online application form only, and cannot be used to submit an application.

3.         The Egyptian PI should submit an identical application on the STDF website: http://www.stdf.org.eg/index.php/currently-opened-grants or the application will be ineligible

The British Council’s partner, Universities UK, can provide a match-making service to identify a UK university who is interested in a similar research field.
